Embassy’s Diversity Discussions Launched

As part of its plan to promote and encourage diversity within the Embassy and in its work in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Embassy staff attended the first discussion on Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina on 4 December. The lecture was delivered by Professor Ahmet Alibasic, a lecturer at the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Director of the Centre for Advance Studies.

BAACBH condemns vandalism of a house of worship in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Bosniak-American Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BAACBH) condemns the acts of violence and vandalism that destroyed the Fazlagica Kula mosque in the Republika Srpska controlled town in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) a few hours before local Muslims were to perform their religious prayer of the Eid al-Adha, the holiest day in the Muslim calendar. Eid al-Adha is the Festival of Sacrifice which commemorates the willingness of the Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God.

CNAB condemns burning of mosque and terrorist attacks against Bosniaks

The Congress of North American Bosniaks (CBNA), an umbrella organization representing Bosniaks living in The United States and Canada strongly condemns the today’s attack against Bosniaks’ mosque in Fazlagića Kula near Gacko municipality during the most sacred holiday for Bosniaks, Eid Al-Adha. This is not an isolated incident, as there have been many attacks on refugee returnees, attacks and vandalizing of mosques in RS, and threats to imams.

Bosnia mosque, French cemetery attacked during Eid

Muslim places were attacked as Muslims celebrated the Eid al-Adha religious holiday on Monday. A mosque in southeastern Bosnia burnt to the ground early on Monday, state television reported. Police said they were investigating the cause of the blaze in Fazlagica Kula, a village near the town of Gacko, which left only the mosque's minaret standing.

Bosnia through the history has been a country of unity and tolerance

The Bosniak-American Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BAACBH) would like to recognize and commemorate Bosnian Statehood Day on November 25, 2008. Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has sustained its current borders for centuries, most recently as a republic of Yugoslavia, then as an internationally recognized sovereign state in 1992.

Zvornik: 88 remains of Srebrenica Bosniaks exhumed

ZVORNIK, November 20 (FENA) - Expert team of the Institute for Missing Persons, Tuzla section from mass graves Kamenica 11 and 12 until now exhumed 50 complete and 883 partial human remains. According to Murat Husic, head of the expert team, these are remains of Srebrenica Bosniaks killed in July 1995. Exhumation from mass grave “Kamenica 11” shall continue while “Kamenica 12” will be closed. According to the number of revealed victims’ remains, these are the largest mass graves recovered in Podrinje.

Balkan Symposium - Problems and future of Balkan Muslims

Delivering the opening speech, IHH President Bülent Yıldırım said Turkey should strengthen its historical and cultural relations with Muslims in the Balkans again to reassert itself in the region. Yıldırım stated Balkan Muslims have long been neglected and said the symposium aimed to bring up the situation of the Balkans and Balkan Muslims.
