THE FOUNDING: Institution of the mufti in Mostar for the first time was mentioned in 1592 in connection with Mevlan Ahmed ef.
The present mufti is Salem ef. Dedović who was appointed in April 2014.

The institution of mufti in Travnik was founded long time ago, in 1736 and was active until 1937 when it was abolished. On the session of the Reestablishing Congress held in March 1993, decision about reestablishing of the mufti office of Travnik was brought. At the session, Nusret ef. Abdibegović, the main imam at that time of Travnik, Novi Travnik and Vitez, was appointed the mufti of Travnik.
