Reisu-l-ulema (Grand Mufti) of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein ef. Kavazovic sent a letter of condolences to the Jewish community in the United States and the American people over the terrible attack on the Pittsburgh Tree of Life synagogue.
A letter of condolences from Reis-l-Ulema was sent to rabbi Arthur Schneier, longtime Senior Rabbi of the Park East Synagogue in New York and founder of Appeal of Conscience Foundation.
In His letter Grand Mufti wrote:
Your Eminence Rabbi Arthur Schneier,
On behalf of The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and on my own behalf, please accept our deepest condolences for the victims of gruesome attack on the Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue and the Jewish community of United States. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, the entire Jewish community and our friends in the United States.
We hope and pray for soon rehabilitation of injured victims who are still recovering.
This horrific attack is yet another example of the danger of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, racism, bigotry, discrimination, xenophobia and other forms of hatred that we are facing in today’s world. We have to face these evils together, wherever they may appear.
Dear friend,
We stand with you in your sorrow, and in forging the way ahead for unity, justice and peace. You always stood with our people in our suffering and we wish that there is something we could do to help you with your pain. But at least we can remind you that you are not alone in your sorrow. We want you to know that our hearts break for the victims, their families, and the entire Jewish community.
Sincerely yours
Husein ef. Kavazović
Grand Mufti of
Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina
