Reisu-l-ulema hosted an iftar for ambassadors

On Thursday, 8.6.2017., Reisu-l-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović organized iftar-dinner for ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Bosnia and Hercegovina. The iftar was organized at the historical Vijećnica (City hall) in Sarjevo and Reisu-l-ulema delivered his message in which he said:

Excellencies, respected embassy representatives, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Assalamualeykum and good evening,

It is my pleasure and honor to be your host at iftar diner, the most joyous moment in Ramadan day of a fasting Muslim. I am especially glad that we are gathered in this magnificent building which tells so much about rich but challenging past of this land.

I would like to thank each of you for accepting my invitation and joining us at this iftar diner. We are honored by your presence.

It is our Bosnian tradition to share our happiness with others.

Bosnian Muslims are proud of their religion Islam. They are happy living with others and glad to have the opportunity to interact and cooperate with them. They are also proud of their European roots and are fully committed to Euro-Atlantic integration process of their country while preserving their heritage and tradition.

Muslims of this land see themselves as a bridge between the East and the West and the Islamic Community plans its activities accordingly.  The traditional Islam we live in our everyday lives was always characterized by openness and tolerance. In this spirit, we raise future generations hoping that they will feel equally comfortable with their both; European and Islamic identity. It is our duty to secure for these new generations an environment in which they feel safe and accepted. This is also the best way to prevent any form of radicalization in these difficult times where we are faced with many challenges. All these challenges are our common problems and we should deal with them together.

With my sincere hope to meet you again on similar joyful occasions I wish you all happiness and every success in your mission.
