Rais Kavazović meets with officials of the White House and State Department

SARAJEVO, March 29 (MINA) – Within his visit to the USA and Bosniak community in this country, Raisu-l-ulama of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein ef. Kavazović visited Washington, where he met with high officials in the U.S. administration, including officials of the White House and State Department.

Reis-ul-ulema met with the Head of the Office of International Religious Freedom in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Elise Mellinger, and they talked about the state of religious freedom on the territory of BiH and possible ways of their improvement.
Reis-ul-ulema talked with the special representative of the Office of the Secretary of State for Religious and Global Affairs Amy Lillis about the situation in BiH and possibilities of cooperation between this office and the Islamic Community in BiH.
At the White House, in the National Security Council, Reis-ul-ulema met with the Director for the Balkans and the Caucasus region, Mark Tervakoski.
During all the meetings, both in the State Department and the White House, everyone could feel the friendly atmosphere and the friendly relationship of the United States towards BiH and its peoples.
Reis-ul-ulema asked his interlocutors to keep attention on BiH and strengthen their presence in our country through increased investments and other forms of cooperation, as well as to pay special attention to Srebrenica that represents “our painful wound”.
All interlocutors expressed their willingness to work more in order to see the determination of the United States in BiH in terms of all the questions that were set out by Reis-ul-ulema, including the question of Srebrenica.
