European Council of Religious Leaders - Religions for Peace issues a Declaration on Living Together in Diversity and Harmony

On thursday, 10 May 2012, ECRL concluded its annual council meeting in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, issuing the Sarajevo Declaration: Ten years of living together in diversity and harmony which also reflects the meeting's main theme. The council shared in eight points its vision of the wholesome society in which the diversity of people are able to live and flourish together. 
We feel as it is our duty and your right to know how the so far silent majority of Bosnian people understand their past and perceive their future after their experience of genocide which has not been seen since the most evil of all - Holocaust. By this open letter we would like to draw your attention to the fact that the results of genocide... 
I am writing to express my concern about the election law in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a result of the genocide that was committed in Srebrenica -so named by two international courts-the demographics have shifted dramatically, drastically reducing the number of Bosniaks in the Srebrenica municipality.

The Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina firmly believes that Serb propaganda with its deceitful methods is trying to involve some members of European Parliament in the project of spreading of fear from Islam and Muslims of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Bosniaks, as a native European people. Spreading of fabrications and devising alleged threats from Muslims in Bosnia is well known and documented tactic of nationalistic Serb propaganda...
Those who practice takfir , i.e., pronouncing others as disbelievers, they do the worst thing, because they deceit and ascribe to Allah and His Messenger what is not true. They devise a novelty or negative innovation, as delusion that leads them straight to Hell and not to Heaven, as they claim for themselves and for their wrongly oriented group. Instead of being preachers they tend to pose as judges. 
Condemning this possessed act in the strongest sense possible as an act of hostility not only against personnel and buildings that enjoy protection according to both domestic and international law, but also according to the rulings of Sharia law, as well as condemning it as hostile act against Islam, Muslims, Bosniaks and the State of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we want to once again reiterate and emphasise that spreading of terror... 
I hope this letter finds you in good health as we are approaching January 27, 1945, the day when Auschwitz was liberated and nowadays commemorated around the world as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. I am writing you as a Bosnian Muslim supporter of the Aladdin Project under the patronage of UNESCO with the aim of countering Holocaust denial... 
Indeed, it is a great pleasure for me to express a sincere appreciation on behalf of the Islamic Community in Bosnia-Herzegovina as well as Muslim Communities in Germany and all European Muslims who are committed to peace and security in Europe to the University of Tübingen for an historic motion that will, for sure, make a new productive and constructive relationship not only between the Muslim Community and the German State and Society, but also between the Muslim World and Europe as a whole.
