The Council of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at its regular session in Sarajevo on April 13, 2024, adopts:

Statement

in support of the initiative for the adoption of a Resolution in the United Nations General Assembly designating July 11 as the International Day of Reflection and Remembrance of the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide.

The Council of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina believes that the adoption of such a resolution at the highest international level strengthens international law and prevents the recurrence of systematic violations of International Criminal Law and genocide crimes.

The Council of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina believes that the adoption of a resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica creates conditions for stable and lasting peace in the world, especially in our region, and provides a basis for building trust on the principles of truth and justice.

The Council of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina expects that this initiative will not be maliciously politicized or interpreted as an attempt to impose collective guilt on anyone.
